Kyle Nevils LEED AP BD+C

Kyle’s track record of delivering large, complex, ground-up projects can be attributed mainly to the partnerships he creates with our clients and design team members to work in unison through all project phases. Kyle M. Davis Assoc. DBIA | LEED AP

Director of Preconstruction & Estimating

As the director of preconstruction and estimating, Kyle understands all aspects of commercial construction in our markets. He especially enjoys working on mechanical and electrical systems. The highlight of the project is agreeing to the guaranteed maximum price with our clients. Doing so means that we’ve done our job for the last 12-18 months of preconstruction to get the job to work within the terms set by all parties.

Since joining JTM construction in June of 2022, Kyle has appreciated JTM’s seller/doer model of business, and the proactive approach we take to building.

One of Kyle’s favorite projects in his career was the SRPMIC Justice Center. It was a highly finished tribal court building for the Salt River Pima Indian community. The fantastic owners who appreciated their work made this project stand out. Secondly, building judicial and jail systems was a new challenge, especially with custom finishes. Lastly, the team had to work hard and be creative to match the owner’s vision and requirements, as there were obstacles to work around along the way.

Outside of work, Kyle loves skiing, hiking, traveling to warm places, watching football, power boating, and recently golfing again!

From structural upgrades, a warehouse expansion of 7000 square feet, and building out a tasting room; the facility continued to brew and batch beer without interruption. However, it was rewarding to see everyone who participated or watched their process appreciate the work that was done.

Outside of work, Travis loves to spend time with family and friends. He enjoys biking, attending music venues, and snowboarding!

Jake Pearce

Survey Superintendent

Jake, our survey superintendent, started with JTM in March 2019. In his role, he maintains a solid relationship between the client and the field. After spending most of his career on jobsites, he now supports the field from the office, taking field data and cleaning it up for office use. Additionally, he can take information from the office and convert it to a proper usable format for teams out in the field. Jake enjoys being a problem solver and helper to his team, tying up loose ends and ensuring everything is running smoothly. Jake also trains new surveyors, assists projects in overcoming obstacles, and finds solutions to various issues during the building process. Wherever there’s a problem, Jake is the one to bounce around where he’s needed to ensure things are on track.

Since joining JTM, Jake’s favorite part about working here is feeling like he’s part of a team. He describes it as a “family who truly cares about each other.” His first and favorite JTM project is the Ovation Apartment Towers. Ovation is the largest project Jake’s been on as the lead surveyor. This project taught him countless lessons that made him a better surveyor today. After it was over, he had the confidence to tackle any project due to all the invaluable experience he had received.

Jake enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids outside of work! You can find them adventuring, mountain biking, camping, and being heavily involved with their Church, where Jake is a worship leader. In the future, Jake and his family hope to homestead!

FUN FACT: Growing up from the age of 10-20 years old, Jake used to race mountain bikes with his dad!

Matt is a detail-oriented person who brings over fifteen years of project management experience since joining JTM in 2013. Matt is a natural problem solver, who enjoys providing economic, efficient, and strategic solutions to projects. He loves the teamwork and collaboration aspect when dealing with large team dynamics. While he takes pride in the entire project lifecycle, he raves about the challenging, fast-paced nature when a building is under active construction.

Matt has contributed to several of Seattle’s iconic projects, such as the F5 Tower and the historic Palihotel Seattle, that developed his passion for construction. At JTM, Matt’s favorite project to date was Summit 3 Office Tower. This project was special to Matt because tying a steel building into an existing PT concrete garage was an opportunity to develop a plan, oversee quality control, and observe the plan come to fruition when most people said it couldn’t be done.

FUN FACT | Matt won the “People’s Choice Award” in the Washington State High School Art Show his senior year, and the painting is still hanging in the Capital.

His favorite part of the project is completion because that’s when the owner starts to benefit from their investment.

One of Charles favorite projects that he’s worked on was the Dupont Civic Center – a small campus for Dupont’s center of government, city hall, fire department, and police department.

Something interesting about Charles is that he grew up on a farm in Montana. This would explain his love for skiing, canoeing, camping, biking, and pretty much anything outdoors!

Justin has built the IT department at JTM from the ground up. He specializes in everything IT, from network architecture to infrastructure, while still striving to find efficiencies within a process to improve the workflow without anyone realizing it.

He oversees all technology functions, developing a new five-year plan as the industry’s technology and business needs have changed. Justin applies this knowledge to build out JTM’s new office to oversee and set up our construction job site offices. The technology must work from day one. He must think outside the box to make things work and research different technologies applied to any scenario. No matter the project, he strives to implement technology choices that work—learning and improving for the future to better the lifecycle for JTM.

Justin is active outside of IT—from scuba diving, skiing, snowboarding, weightlifting, and high-gain altitude hikes where he enjoys the beautiful views of the PNW. He is also a world traveler, discovering new places, cultures, and meeting new people.

He enjoys collaboration with both clients and trade partners. He focuses on practical, effective, and timely communication—and a commitment to exceeding expectations ensures the project’s success.

A favorite part of a project lifecycle is right after the enclosure is completed to a point where the interior framing is able to begin. That is the first moment when the architect’s vision of how the people move through the building is going to be in real life comes through.

He always takes a proactive approach when it comes to managing construction projects. His goal is to solve potential design or construction issues before turning them into real problems in the field. Doing so reduces cost and saves time during the construction stage.

Andrew’s favorite part of the project lifecycle is the transition from structural construction to building finishes. This is when the grey bone structure gets its unique characteristics and design elements. It’s essentially the building dressed up! His favorite project is the new Ovation Apartment Towers because it was his first high-rise project; he worked on this project for three years. It allowed him to gain in-depth knowledge in managing structural concrete and steel scopes. Additionally, he learned how we apply VDC to real-time construction for the first time in his career!

Since joining the OneJTM team, Andrew praises the cultural environment here. “We are not only building the building but developing friendships and so much more. It means a lot as JTM’s culture makes me feel like I’m a part of the company (family).”

Andrew loves golfing, snowboarding, and remodeling around his house outside of work!

FUN FACT: Andrew has earned three different majors! AS Electrical Communication, AA Business, and BS Construction Management!

Derek Deeter
Senior Project Manager

Derek Deeter

Senior Project Manager

Derek has a multi-faceted, diverse background and the ability to scale up or down from complex tenant improvements to ground-up high rises. For over a decade, he has worked in the construction industry and Puget Sound, specifically at JTM. As Senior Project Manager, Derek oversees the project and creates continuity from preconstruction through construction. He engages and challenges the design teams and clients to think outside the box to meet their objectives.

Derek thrives on the details, from the preconstruction phase, preplanning and sequencing, budget development, quality controls, and managing the job through closeout. But enjoys the project startup phase – during this time, the project team bonds start forming, and creative thinking occurs. It’s less about your job title and/or role at that point and more about making sure that the collective team is all-in to do whatever needs to keep the project moving along. The Esterra Park Block 3 exemplifies this; the team gelled instantly and had each other’s backs, and the project was successful and the client happy. His commitment to the client and their project is unwavering.

Fun Fact: Derek is the “deal guy” in the office—people come to him when they are looking to find a good deal on something work-related and non-work-related.

Shane Bond
Superintendent

Shane Bond NW Carpenters Apprenticeship Program

Superintendent

Shane brings 30 years of experience to JTM. As the Superintendent, he supervises day-to-day crew operations and project sites, organizes, and communicates with sub-contractors, and coordinates with project team members. Shane supports project oversight from pre-construction to closeout, maintaining a safe working environment and OSHA guidelines. He also directs and assesses employees and subcontractors during the planning and execution of construction throughout the project. Shane is hands-on at every level of a project.

What Shane enjoys the most about working at JTM is working with team members and trade partners to create a successful project and being a part of the leadership team that works together to provide project-focused construction solutions—being able to give others the opportunities and enabling them to be successful as well.

One of Shane’s favorite projects that he’s worked on was the Oregon State University Cascadia (Bend, OR Campus), a five-story cast-in-place concrete and mass timber medical education facility that required unique construction sequencing with two architectural shear walls and one core, requiring mass shoring during mass timber erection.

Shane’s favorite part of any project is the start of the project when excavation starts, and the foundations begin. This part of the project brings all the preplanning to reality and sets the stage for all trades to work together to make it a successful project.

An interesting fact about Shane is that he lived throughout the western United States—from Saint George, Utah to Anchorage, Alaska, Palisades, Colorado, and Tucson, Arizona, where he graduated high school and then moved to Washington state, where most of my family had settled.

Outside of work, Shane spends time with his family, camping, and snowboarding. He also enjoys exploring the back roads in the mountains, hiking, hunting, and fishing.
