Developer Urban Villages plans to open its boutique 120-room hotel in Pioneer Square this spring.

Hotel Westland is part of Urban Villages’ RailSpur project, one of the biggest active investments in the city’s historic neighborhood. In all, the mixed-use project spans three buildings with the hotel, 77,000 square feet of office space, 26 short-term rental units and retail space. The hotel, located in the Westland Building at 100 S King St., will emphasize elements of the Northwest and the historic neighborhood. Chicago-based Curioso is handling the interior design. “Hotel Westland is designed to be more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience that immerses guests in the essence of Seattle,” General Manager Rod Lapasin said in a news release. “From the moment guests walk in, they’ll feel the connection to the city’s rich history and creative energy, whether it’s the curated art collection or the vibrant social spaces that bring together both travelers and locals.”

Plans for retail at RailSpur include three projects from James Beard-winning chef Renee Erickson, filling 12,000 square feet in the former F.X. McRory’s space at 419 Occidental Ave. S. That building will also have a bar from New York City’s Death & Co. Previously, a restaurant, a coffee house, a corner market and a bike shop operated at RailSpur’s third building at 115 S. Jackson St., before closing in May after about a year and a half in business. The hotel will be managed by Chicago-based Aparium Hotel Group. It will include the neighborhood’s first rooftop bar and a restaurant. “From its roots in the storied Westland Building to the seamless blend of raw Pacific Northwest beauty and thoughtful design by Curioso, Hotel Westland is a tribute to Seattle’s unique character,” CEO and founder of Aparium Hotel Group Mario Tricoci said.

An exact opening date has yet to be announced.
