Tacoma Art Museum
Benaroya Wing Expansion

This 30-Foot-Tall Building Houses Gallery Space for the New Art Glass Collection

The Benaroya Wing addition to the Tacoma Art Museum adds 5,500-square-feet to the existing Olson Kundig design. Standing 30 feet tall, the building serves as a dedicated gallery space for the museum's art glass collection. The exterior features exposed concrete and stainless steel siding, while 15-foot ceilings inside create an open atmosphere. The gallery includes 500 feet of repositionable track lighting, allowing flexibility in illuminating the displays.

Due to the addition's close proximity to the operating museum, careful logistics planning and vibration minimization measures were undertaken during construction to protect valuable artworks and minimize disruption to museum operations.
