A Century of History
In collaboration with Urban Villages, with architectural design by Miller Hull and interiors by Curioso, we honored the building’s historic character while integrating modern amenities to create an exceptional guest experience.
Through thoughtful adaptive reuse, the original Douglas Fir timber beams, once supporting the weight of industry, now frame warm, welcoming spaces filled with natural light from century-old windows overlooking the city. A full seismic upgrade brought the century-old structure to current safety standards, requiring innovative engineering solutions and meticulous planning to preserve its heritage while ensuring lasting resilience.
The Rooftop Experience
The crown jewel of the Westland transformation is the 5,000-square-foot penthouse addition, home to a spectacular rooftop bar. With breathtaking views of Elliott Bay and the Seattle waterfront, it offers an unparalleled dining and social experience. The rooftop venue also serves the adjacent food hall, extending the building’s community impact beyond its walls. Thoughtfully designed outdoor patio spaces and seamless indoor-outdoor flow make it the perfect destination to enjoy the city skyline and a carefully crafted drink.

Experience Dining & Entertainment
Complementing the rooftop experience, the hotel features a full-service restaurant, café, and two distinctive bars, including a fully glazed “Solarium” dining space. Once the site of the building’s power infrastructure in the north alley, the Solarium has been reimagined as an immersive dining venue that blends the building’s industrial past with contemporary design. With transparent walls and preserved historic elements, it offers guests a unique opportunity to connect with both the building’s history and the surrounding urban environment.
